Amy Frey

Amy’s interest in travel and intrigue of the international world lead her to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Economics from the University of Delaware. She chose to fine tune her knowledge and expertise by pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Georgetown University with a concentration in International Trade and Export Promotion Policy.

Amy’s first job out of Graduate school was with the Victorian State Government in Australia where she worked as an Export Advisor in their International Trade Division. Amy was responsible for helping Victorian companies to identify export sales in overseas markets.

As Amy was preparing to leave Australia in 1991, several Victorian companies impressed with her skills hired her to provide US market entry consulting services. That suggestion led Amy to start Australian Trading Company (what is today ATC International). Since starting her own business 25 years ago, Amy has utilized every opportunity to learn and grow from new experiences and she has become truly an expert at her craft.

Amy has been honored nationally by the U.S. Small Business Administration as a Rising Star, she has been named Exporter of the Year (for Services) by the Washington Metropolitan SBA and she was made honorary Southeast Asia Trade Ambassador for the State of Wyoming.

Alongside running her own business, Amy has written over 20 publications covering topics such as “Selling to US Retailers from Overseas”, “US Market Entry via Fulfillment Centers”, and “How to Prepare for a US Trade Show”. Amy regularly presents in webinars and conferences sponsored by international economic development organizations covering topics closely associated with successful US market entry.

In her free time, Amy volunteers as a Director on several non-profit Boards including Friends of the Australian Koala Foundation, the Earth Sangha and the Beaver Lake Realty Board. She is also an active participant in Australia’s Women in Global Business Mentor Program. She unwinds by travelling and exploring the great outdoors with her husband, Rick Haeuber, who works for the US Environmental Protection Agency. They live in downtown Washington, DC with their dog, Dottie.
